Transferring all your data from one iPhone to a new one is as easy as 123. Check out the below steps on how.

Step 1
Update your new phone

Connect to your WiFi first then,

  • Settings
  • General
  • Software Update
  • Download and install

Wait for the download and installation of the current iOS. The handset will restart a couple of times before asking to activate your phone again.

If your existing phone is backed up to iCloud, skip to step 3.

Step 2
Back up existing phone

Connect to your WiFi first then,

  • Settings
  • iCloud
  • Back Up
  • Ensure iCloud Back Up is On
  • Back Up Now

If you have more than 5GB to back up, then you will need to purchase extra storage from Apple.  79p monthly will give you 50GB.  If you do not wish to purchase this, then you will not be able to continue with transferring your content.  If you do, then follow the steps on screen to upgrade using your iCloud storage.

Step 3
Factory Reset your new phone.

Connect to your WiFi first then,

  • Settings
  • General
  • Reset
  • Erase all content and settings

If you have signed into iCloud, you will be asked to enter in your Apple ID password.  The phone will then restart and you will be ready to restore from your current iPhone or set up as a new device.

Step 4
Restore from an existing device.

When you switch on the handset, the device will ask you set language, region and to the connect to your WiFi. You must make sure that sim card is in the phone to activate.  Then follow the steps.

  • Restore from iCloud
  • Enter your Apple ID and password.
  • Select recent iCloud backup.

That’s it, the phone will then start to restore your content.  The process will vary depending on the amount of content.
