Uh Oh! So the network has gained some publicity this week after upset customers took to social networks to complain about loosing the rather wonderful One Plan and told that they had 30 days to decide before being booted off it.
The One Plan in its hay day was a tariff that took the market by storm, offering 2000 minutes, 5000 text and the impossible to beat unlimited data. Â The beauty about this tariff was that it also offering unlimited personal hotspot which is where the company now finds itself in a pickle, 1% of customers on this plan using 50% of the total data usage.
In a nutshell, instead of having fixed line broadband they were using their handset as a very cheap alternative. Â However this has caused a major headache for Three as traffic was slow for the majority of users during times of heavy downloading.
So to combat this Three rebranded its tariffs last July but with a limited personal hotspot allowance of 12GB, more than plenty for the majority while retaining its all you can eat (AYCE) data for handsets. Not happy with that, then tough, heres your PAC code.
With the upcoming merger with O2, Three is no doubt trying to protect its network infrastructure from completely melting before it inherits an additional 33 million customers. And with the most consistent network experience in the country, it seems the few will be impacted more than the majority.
See our Sim Only page for details on the latest tariffs.
