Taken your iPhone down the market for a repair instead of through Apple? Well now you could be left with an bricked device and unable to retrieve your data.

In an recent update to iOS and in order to keep services such as Touch ID secure according to Apple, the device will now block users out that have had an official repair. 

Known as “Error 53,” the issue is reported to have affected thousands of iPhone 6 users in an article published by The Guardian. Journalist Antonio Olmo reports on seeing the message apear on his iPhone following a repair while on assignment left with no choice in having to splash out £270 with Apple for a replacement device.
