The Samsung S7 Edge and Samsung S7 was announced to the world at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this. year, in a very interactive way using the Gear VR.

Camera

Low light photography is now made even more possible with a F1.7 aperture now introduced to the S7 and S7 Edge. The lower the number, the more light coming onto the sensor.

Dual Pixel is available on the rear camera.  This makes a huge impact to digital smartphone photography.  The technology which has been used in Canon cameras, increases the speed of the focus to work like human vision.  Two eyes helps to speed up depth of field, so having dual pixel reduces the time to focus dramatically, especially in low light conditions resulting in less blurry pictures and more crystal clear photos.

The Samsung S6 has the worlds best Camera rating, joint with the Sony Z5 as rated by DXO ratings.

Bigger pixels = Better Pictures.

The Samsung S6 had a pixel size of 1.12 μ vs the Samsung S7 and S7 Edge a pixel size of 1.4 μ.  What this means is that the device can capture more of the light coming through the bigger lens, resulting in 95% increase in light being captured vs the previous model.  As a result of increase in pixel size, the pixel capabilities have been reduced to 12MP.

Selfie Flash allowing to capture brighter pictures in low light. A technology that you don’t have to switch on automatically to capture an great image in low light. This may not be ground breaking as services like Snapshat and the Apple iPhone 6S have used this in their device, but what sets the Samsung apart is the tone of light that the front facing camera captures on its object, you!

Motion Panoramic which is introduced into the S7 and S7 edge. This takes panoramic photos into the world of live VR. It works by taking a video of your panoramic photo.

Hyperlapse brings allows.

Optional Lens Covers create professional effects on your smartphone.

Colour Variants

Back of Samsung S7 and Samsung S6Both models will be available in Black Onyx, Gold Platinum, White Pearl and Silver Titanium. However the UK networks have currently only placed orders for the Black and Gold versions.  Good news too, that black is now black compared to the blue/black colour of the S6 billed as Midnight Sapphire.

Performance

Memory

Expandable memory is back with Micro SD! Samsung made a move with the Galaxy S6 to use built in memory with no expansion slot. This did improve the speed of loading content such as photo and video previews, however users seemed to prefer flexibility and Samsung have decided to ditch speed for the convenience of simple expandable memory for videos, photos and music.  The Samsung S7 comes therefore as standard with 32GB internal memory and expandable up to 200GB.
